$8000 Black and White Only Digital Camera →
I will admit to experiencing a lot of camera lust, and the name Leica is enough to get me salivating, but I really just can’t believe this announcement. Surely there is a market, albeit niche, for digital camera that can’t perceive colour, or they wouldn’t make it. That said, when I next look to grow my camera collection, this will be the last one on my list.

Ten Years After Decriminalization, Drug Abuse Down... →
there is no real debate about whether drugs should once again be criminalized. More significantly, none of the nightmare scenarios touted by preenactment decriminalization opponents — from rampant increases in drug usage among the young to the transformation of Lisbon into a haven for “drug tourists” — has occurred.

EurekAlert article.
According to a recent study headed by scientists from the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and the University of Granada, eating commercial baked goods (fairy cakes, croissants, doughnuts, etc.) and fast food (hamburgers, hotdogs and pizza) is linked to depression.
Published in the Public Health Nutrition journal, the results reveal that consumers of fast food,...

The title of the campaign sums up my sentiments exactly and this sort of marketing is going a long ways to win my affections. Sparrow Mail for iOS →
I’ve been using Sparrow as my default desktop mail client for a few months now and I love it. It’s nimble, as the name implies. It’s equally comfortable being shrunk down to IM sized message list as being blown up to be full screen on my iMac. A lot of work was done to create certain flows that are very quick for the majority of day to day email tasks, along with some cool cloud...
The opposite of poverty is not wealth. … In too many places, the opposite of poverty is justice.
There’s a lot of great food for thought in this video. I’ve long been for the re-positioning the mentality of the death sentence from ‘does the crime deserve death?’ to ‘do I have the right to take someones life?’. Watch it, you won’t regret that you...

Leap Day
Today is leap day, at least for those following either the Gregorian or the antiquated Julian calendar system. Leap day exists to make sure that with the passing of time April remains a spring month, ready for farmers to sow their crops. And it’s our pursuit of this noble goal that has made the exact date of George Washingtons birthday a trick question. He was born on the Julian Calendar and...

Why I Don't Hate Religion
I wanted to spend some time fleshing out some thoughts regarding religion, I’ve recently encountered a lot of negativity from both Christians and anti-theists towards that word and I think both sides are misinformed.
It’s foolishness for Christians to try and somehow cleave their beliefs from the title of religion. While the anti-theistic opinion that religion is an outmoded,...

‘A whole hour till the next bus!’ The reality was just starting to sink in. I needed to go to the airport, not immediately, I still had 12 hours to my flight, but I didn’t have the money to spend the night in a hotel, and when you don’t have any other option, an airport isn’t so bad. They usually get pretty quiet at night and put a roof over your head, though you do...

Dubious Assumption Indeed →
Regarding SOPA/PIPA:
In the entire discussion, I’ve seen no discussion of credible evidence of this economic harm. There’s no question in my mind that piracy exists, that people around the world are enjoying creative content without paying for it, and even that some criminals are profiting by redistributing it. But is there actual economic harm?
First, I agree with the above cited...

Goodbye 2011
All my friends back home in Spain are already celebrating the needle having ticked over to 2012 and as I ready myself for the evenings festivities I feel a slight bit of emotion saying goodbye to a year filled with ups, downs, twists and turns, challenges and growth. I raced up and down mountains, I risked myself emotionally, I faced the past and problems therein, I got help from others, and made...

So instead of engaging in a battle to reclaim Christmas, I propose an alternative. Let’s take Christ out of Christmas.
I know what you’re thinking: What about “the reason for the season”? But that’s precisely my point. Do Christians really want to think of the son of God as the reason for reduced-price waffle-makers and winter wonderland scenes at the local...
